Breed guide

Goldendoodle

Medium and Standard Goldendoodles with wavy-to-curly, non-shedding coats.

We raise Goldendoodles in two sizes: Medium (30–45 lb) and Standard (50–70 lb). Their coats range from wavy to curly, and every parent is Embark health-tested and coat-panel verified before a pairing goes forward. Every parent is at least F1B; most are multigenerational.

A Goldendoodle is a Golden Retriever–Poodle cross.

Temperament

Goldendoodles are outgoing, social dogs that like being involved in family life. Individual puppies still differ in confidence, energy, and sociability, so we get to know each one and help families choose by temperament as well as color or sex.

Size & Growth

We raise Medium Goldendoodles at 30–45 lb and 17–20 inches at the shoulder, and Standards at 50–70 lb and 22–26 inches. We do not raise Mini or Toy Goldendoodles. A specific litter's projected adult range depends on the dam and sire, so ask before reserving if size is a firm limit.

Energy & Exercise

Goldendoodle energy varies by puppy. Plan on daily walks and play, then adjust the amount to the individual dog.

Health & Lifespan

Goldendoodles typically live 10–15 years.

Both parents complete Embark's 200+ condition panel before a pairing goes forward. Every parent is also coat-panel verified for non-shedding.

Goldendoodles have drop ears, which can hold moisture. Apply a gentle ear flush and wipe every two weeks, and ask your groomer to assess ear hair at each visit.

Our one-year health guarantee can be extended to two years through NuVet (code 594016). Read the full terms before reserving.

Training

Goldendoodles usually respond well to positive-reinforcement, marker-based training with high-value food rewards. Keep sessions short and consistent from the first day home.

If you'd like professional support with the early weeks, our close friends at Much Ado About Doodles offer optional one- and three-month training programs before hand-delivery. Current details are on the training page.

Is a Goldendoodle right for you?

Adult size, daily routine, and individual puppy temperament all matter alongside breed. Our household fit guide walks through the practical questions that apply across all three breeds.

Goldendoodle questions

What generation are your Goldendoodles?
Most of our parents are multigenerational, and every parent is at least F1B. We also coat-test both parents before every pairing because generation alone does not determine the coat.
How big will my Goldendoodle actually get?
Medium Goldendoodles settle around 30–45 lb and 17–20 inches at the shoulder; Standards reach 50–70 lb and 22–26 inches. Most hit adult weight between 12 and 18 months. For a specific litter we can give you a projected range from the dam and sire — if size is a hard limit for you, ask before you reserve.
Are Goldendoodles really hypoallergenic?
Our Goldendoodles are bred for non-shedding coats, and both parents are coat-panel verified for non-shedding gene variants. “Hypoallergenic” does not mean allergy-free, so if allergies are a concern, spend time with a similar-coated doodle or poodle before reserving.
How much grooming does a Goldendoodle really need?
Brush with a straight-tooth comb at least once a week — you're done when the comb slides through the coat smoothly. Plan for a full professional groom every 2–3 months.
Are Goldendoodles good with kids?
Goldendoodles can do well with children, but individual temperament matters. Supervise early play and teach both the puppy and the children how to interact calmly.
Can a Goldendoodle live in an apartment?
Apartment living can work for a Goldendoodle when daily walks, play, and an easy route outside are part of the routine. Adult size matters: our Mediums are 30–45 lb and Standards are 50–70 lb.
